Having grown up in St. Louis, Christina relished cooking elaborate Sunday dinners for her family. She expanded her expertise and culinary repertoire by graduating from the renowned Culinary Institute of America (CIA) before spicing things up with her appearance on the hit reality TV show. Her well-trained taste buds appreciate St. Louis’ range of casual to sophisticated fare. “Did you know that Crab Rangoon was invented in St. Louis? I really like the ones at Fu Manchu, a little place in Maplewood. The stuffing is handmixed and packed with big chunks of crab yum,” she says. Like many a true St. Louisan, Christina sings the praises of Imo’s Pizza. “There’s nothing like it,” she says of the thin-crust, Provel cheese-topped pizza pie. “I like mine with sausage, mushrooms and jalapeños.” The Hell’s Kitchen champion also melts over Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, the illustrious Route 66 refreshment stand that dispenses delectable frozen concoctions. What Drewes’ menu item would she choose for her Hell’s Kitchen boss, Gordon Ramsay? “The Cardinal Sin,” smiles Christina, referring to a creamy sundae topped with hot fudge and tart cherries. “The name is perfect and it’s scrumptious.” Tour the home of the famous ragtime composer.
