Commercial air service began here in 1928 with Standard Airlines (later American Airlines). Today, Tucson International Airport is a thoroughly modern facility, which recently completed a major expansion project to increase capacity, access, and traveler amenities. Tucson’s airport is located 10 miles from the center of town, just south of Interstate 10, on 8,244 acres. Tucson’s 11 carriers offer nonstop service to 27 major destinations with connections to more than 120 cites nationwide.
