FIVE EUREKA PARK
COMPANIES HIGHLIGHT
TECH TO IMPROVE LIVES
At CES 2016 five companies in Eureka Park™
will display innovative approaches to ensure
that people can live longer, healthier, more
independent lives. These companies won
the CTA Foundation's first "Technology that
Improves Lives Video" contest to highlight
technologies for seniors and people with
disabilities by entering short videos of their
products or services.
The power of technology to make a difference in people's lives is profound, and it's of
growing importance as the demographics in
the U.S. and around the world shift towards
an older population. Technology serves to
engage us and combat social isolation especially for older demographics and those with
disabilities. According to Nielsen, there is a
tremendous business opportunity for these
products as Americans 50 years old and up
are forecast to control 70 percent of the country's disposable income by 2017, and inherit
$15 trillion in the next 20 years.
While we hear a lot about millennials, the
study found that in five years 50 percent of the
U.S. population will be over 50 yet less than
five percent of advertising is geared towards
this cohort, providing businesses with an
opportunity to ramp up their marketing.
The CTA Foundation serves a vital role in
supporting nonprofit organizations using
technology to enhance the lives of seniors
and people with disabilities. If you want
to learn more about working with these
important communities and support our
work, visit CTAFoundation.tech. And while
you are at CES, stop by Eureka Park and see
how these five startups are doing their part
to improve lives.

CES HOSTS EXTREME TECH
CHALLENGE
Ten of the most innovative global startups will
compete live at CES for the opportunity to
pitch to Virgin Group CEO Sir Richard Branson on his private Necker Island. The Extreme
Tech Challenge (XTC) is the brainchild of Bill
Tai and Susi Mai, founders of MaiTai Global
who launched the competition to fuel the
world's best emerging tech entrepreneurs.
XTC aims to provide exposure for startups
and capital to accelerate product development and other startup boosters from world
class vendors to scale. "The Extreme Tech
Challenge is looking to help killer teams with
product/market fit to scale their companies
with visibility and resources from a great network," explains Tai.

The winning startups will
travel to Necker Island in
February to present their
vision to top entrepreneur
Branson. Finalists will receive
resources including access
to funding, free infrastructure and distribution
support, free investment
banking consultation, and
advice from XTC partners
and sponsors.
