Plans For The New Year
And CES 2017

 I

made a few New Year's resolutions - lose a few
holiday pounds, increase my workouts and travel
more. But I'm also thinking about my flight to CES
for the most dazzling show of the year. And this
year, we are celebrating five decades of CES. Check out our
timeline that looks at consumer tech milestones to see just

how far technology has advanced.
CES 2017 promises to be full of dynamic keynotes,
Marketplaces, new product launches, and of course,
Eureka Park full of entrepreneurial treasures.
CES gives us a first-hand look at the latest prototypes,
devices, apps and services that will find their way
to retail stores.
In this issue, we provide a peek at what will be at
CES Unveiled Las Vegas - the special onsite preview for
media. And see our exclusive section on the 2017 Innovation Award Honorees
including the Best of Innovation award winners. This competition recognizes
the groundbreaking technologies of tomorrow. Visit the Showcase at
Tech West in the Sands.
We have stuffed this issue with thought provoking topics to spur new ideas.
For example, how will the digital brainpower of artificial intelligence (AI) and
machine learning impact society? AI will lead to incredible enhancements in
our lives, but there are also privacy and security challenges. And cybersecurity
is about to get more difficult in the always-on IoT connected universe. The
Cybersecurity Forum at CES 2017, hosted by CyberVista, will provide some
solutions to defend critical assets.
Will new battery technology meet the demands of 5G mobile broadband and
provide the power and range needed by electric vehicles? Breakthroughs in
lithium-air batteries promise to store 10 times the energy of today's commercial
lithium-ion cells. These new batteries could power a mobile phone for a week
without recharging. We also look at smart homes and what is needed for
widespread adoption - key communication standards, collaboration between
vendors and reduced pricing of devices.
And we talked with four top ad agency leaders about the changing nature
of advertising in a hyper competitive market. They provide some interesting
insights as the industry is using virtual reality to tell stories more effectively.
Visit C Space at Aria to hear from experts.
See you at CES where technology continues to improve lives around the world.
