Their inaugural pilot program will be in
partnership with Anthem Memory Care to
study fall detection technology in older adults.
They will explore whether wearable technology can predict or prevent falls in seniors and
when falls do occur, effectively alert caregivers.
They also will identify top Medicare costs
related to falls and determine if wearables can
alleviate some of these major medical costs.

he CTA Foundation is proud to announce that the
University of Colorado-Denver Assistive Technology
Partners housed under the College of Engineering and
Applied Science is the first recipient of the CTA Foundation
Fellows Program. Under the direction of Dr. Cathy Bodine,
Dr. Levin Sliker will serve as the first fellow.

June 7-9,

After the official announcement of
the partnership with IBM and Local Motors
at CES 2017 several events have been held
to help create the world's most accessible
self-driving vehicle. According to a report,
seniors are outliving their ability to drive
safely by seven to ten years. With the loss
of driving privileges they run a much higher
risk of becoming socially isolated. In addition
to seniors more than half a million Americans
with a disability never leave home because
of lack of transportation.
To begin identifying new innovations in
accessible transportation, a series of workshops and hackathons throughout 2017
are aimed at innovators of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Focus groups have
included DC area seniors at AARP, Baltimore
area high school students with PTech, and
three senior communities with Front Porch
Services in California.
The CTA Foundation, a public, national
foundation, was launched in 2012 with the
mission to link seniors and people with disabilities with technologies to enhance their lives.
The foundation supports programs that affect
these communities and facilitates dialog
between industry, consumers, government,
advocacy groups and other key stakeholders. n
