"The 'rules' about what to eat
when you have diabetes have changed over the years," says Adams.
"For example, people were often told 'don't eat anything white,'
meaning stay away from white potatoes, white rice and white bread."
This rule has changed, and Adams now teaches patients about
healthy food choices and eating the right portion size.
"I highly recommend the Diabetes Center Program at UM
CRMC," says Andy Sanford, of Newburg. "It provides the most
comprehensive and up-to-date diabetes prevention and management education in a small and very personalized setting." She
adds: "I learned about the science of diabetes, how it affects your
body today and in the future, and how to make easy and better
food choices to affect a positive change. Thank you for helping me
on this new journey to focus on me-and a longer, healthy life!"
