na May Gaskin, a pioneer of American midwifery and internationally
known, award-winning speaker and author on maternity care, said:
"Wherever you intend to give birth, your experience will impact your
emotions, your mind, your body and your spirit for the rest of your life."

For many mothers and mothers-to-be in Caroline, Dorchester,

Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot counties, "wherever" means UM Shore
Regional Health's Birthing Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton.
While the Easton hospital has been delivering the region's newest
residents for decades, the Birthing Center officially opened its doors
in 1996. In February 2016, UM SRH celebrated the Center's 20th
anniversary and the more than 20,000 babies delivered there since
its opening. While honoring the past, the celebration also marked the
advent of a new and exciting era for childbearing women and their
families in the five-county region served by UM SRH.
