and treatment-not once, but twice.
Her story is one that not only inspires us, but also
reminds us that innovation and growth are essential. At
Gwinnett Medical Center, we're continually expanding
our cancer care offerings to ensure that our community
has the very best technological, diagnostic and treatment
options available.
To provide greater access to advanced technology,
all of our Gwinnett Breast Center locations offer
tomosynthesis, or 3-D digital mammography. This form of digital mammography
provides more accurate scans, detecting cancers even earlier-especially for
women with dense breast tissue or a family history of breast cancer.
Because early detection is so important, especially for those with a family
history of the disease, we are also continually taking strides to provide the best
diagnostic capability possible. To help individuals assess their genetic cancer
risk, Cindy Snyder, an advanced practice nurse in Genetics at our GMC Cancer
Institute, offers some of the most effective genetic counseling and testing
in Georgia.
Lastly, we've offered robust treatment options through our Cancer Institute
and its research capabilities for some time now. But in the past few years, our
formal affiliation with the Duke Cancer Network has taken our program to a new
level by ensuring that our patients have access to even more clinical trials.
Continually enhancing our technology, diagnostic and treatment options for
cancer care is something that we pride ourselves on.
Whether it's caring for our patients every day, celebrating survivorship at our
annual Paint Gwinnett Pink event, or comforting community members at any of
our monthly cancer support groups that meet throughout our community, we
are constantly inspired by our patients.
It's their stories, their determination and their willingness to fight that
continually drives our dedication and commitment to exceptional cancer care.
