New physicians, technology and
advancements benefit our patients
North Mississippi Medical Center Cancer Care connects
area residents with innovative and comprehensive cancer services. Page 4 of this issue features highlights of
new developments in cancer services, including new
procedures and technology that are benefiting brain,
breast, colon and liver cancer patients. Our patients
also benefit from the addition of two new palliative
care physicians, who focus on relief of pain, stress
and other symptoms of a serious illness; see page 8.
One physician has a hospital-based practice and sees
inpatients, and the other devotes her practice to patients who are undergoing cancer treatment.
Patient success stories are always heartwarming, especially when told from
their perspective. Turn to page 52 to read as area bariatric patients share their
success with weight loss and their tips for anyone who may be considering this
With the addition of neurosurgeon Jason Stacy, MD, stroke patients benefit
from a new surgical technique for complicated stroke cases. Stacy, a native of
Tupelo, returned to his hometown to join our medical staff in 2016. Read more
on page 56.
For many of our workers, a career in healthcare is a special calling. If you are
considering a career in healthcare, the story on page 50 shares the connection
our employees have with their work and helping others.
Our approach to patient care is about connecting with every patient, every
time, and making a difference in every life we touch. If you have already used
our healthcare services, thank you. If you haven't, we invite you to do so.
