L L L Take advantage of affordable group rates Often financial experts recommend group plans due to the financial advantages of group rates. But it’s important to remember that all “groups” are not created equal. The ability to negotiate a significant discount is partially determined by the size of your group. As a result, IEEE can negotiate bigger discounts for its members than you may find with other group plans including your employer’s life plan. Nonsmoker discounts drive your costs even lower The IEEE Group Term Life Insurance Plan also offers an additional nontobacco/nicotine user discount to help you save even more money. As long as you or your spouse haven’t used tobacco or nicotine in any form (including nicotine patches and nicotine chewing gum) in the past 12 months, you and your spouse could cut your rates even more by taking advantage of this discount. You can apply for insurance benefits up to $1 million You can choose benefits ranging from $10,000 to $1 million (in multiples of $10,000) as an eligible IEEE Member under age 70 and a resident of the United States (excluding VT and territories) or Puerto Rico. You may apply for benefits for your lawful spouse, from $10,000 to $1 million (in multiples of $10,000) as long as spouse benefits don’t exceed 100% of your coverage. A member who is also a dependent is eligible for either member or dependent coverage, but not both. If both the member and spouse are covered as members, only one may insure any eligible children. Each unmarried, dependent child age 14 days through 22 years (24 if a full-time student) can be covered at the $10,000 level.
