WebSphere Revolution - (Page 37) a file basis or attempting to create their own protocol structures for transporting bits of information across the wire. MQ came in, provided the standard set of interface structures to do that common protocol, common interfaces on either end, guaranteed once and only once delivery login and recovery— a lot of important basic services.” In January 1999, WebSphere MQ was augmented by MQSeries Integrator®. This software component was designed to sit between end points (applications and data sources) and resolve differences in message protocol format. It was the “Grand Central Station” of information flow that simplified the challenges of integrating applications. It was a huge improvement because now each end point could communicate with one destination—MQSeries Integrator— rather than managing connections with all of the other endpoints. MQSeries Integrator would inspect, transform, and route each message in flight to ensure that the information would arrive at the right place in the right format. In June 2001, MQSeries and MQSeries Integrator were re-branded as WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Message Broker, respectively. Today, these are two of the IBM offerings used to implement the central SOA communications vehicle known as the enterprise service bus (ESB). The WebSphere brand had grown again and now it had its “backbone.” From an On Demand Business perspective, WebSphere MQ and Message Broker were critical additions. Why? Because an On Demand Business needs to have business processes More on the Web • WebSphere MQ Family Today on IBM.com • WebSphere MQ Customer references • WebSphere MQ Customer videos • WebSphere Message Broker Today on IBM.com • WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Today on IBM.com • Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Today on IBM.com • Video: WebSphere Message Broker MQSeries Integrator became WebSphere Message Broker in 2001. 37 http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wmqfamily http://www-01.ibm.com/software/success/cssdb.nsf/softwareL2VW?OpenView&Count=30&RestrictToCategory=default_WebSphereMQ&cty=en_us http://www-01.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/tv/ http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wbimessagebroker/index.html?S_TACT=105AD02W&S_CMP=campaign http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wsesb/index.html?S_TACT=105AD02W&S_CMP=campaign http://www-01.ibm.com/software/awdtools/developer/application/ http://www-01.ibm.com/software/awdtools/developer/application/
