Employing specialized 3-D imaging and Doppler techniques, Moro gains insight into how a patient’s heart is functioning, which allows him to program the pacemaker— specifically for the patient. Florida Hospital is the only hospital in the world using this technique called echo resynchronization, designed and created to provide maximum benefit to the patient. “I tell my patients to think of the pacemaker as a computer for a car. is same computer can be put into a Volkswagen or a Corvette. Both will idle fine, but in order to get the best performance from either, the computer will need to be tuned or optimized to the needs of that motor,” says Moro, manager of Florida Hospital cardiac resynchronization therapy. Moro has performed more than 500 pacemaker optimizations with fewer than 10 percent of his patients receiving the same programming. is is truly personalized pacing. e Moro Method is another example of how Florida Hospital is changing the health of the Central Florida community.
