from the president A new year of care As we begin a new year of new opportunities and challenges, Marymount Hospital is moving forward with expanded services, advanced technology and quality patient-centered care for our community. Our new $2.5 million endovascular suite offers patients quicker recovery for vascular procedures in a community setting. Marymount is one of only 10 hospitals in the United States with the newest technology to diagnose and treat vascular conditions, including blocked carotid arteries, aneurysms and peripheral vascular disease. Marymount has been designated a Primary Stroke Care Center by the Joint Commission. This recognition certifies our commitment to meeting national standards for superior outcomes, treatment and prevention. Our hightech emergency department and critical care tower is equipped to treat strokes, aneurysms, heart attacks and emergency conditions. We recently completed a $1.5 million equipment and facility upgrade in radiology services, including an advanced MRI scanner, a nuclear medicine camera, a 16-slice CT scanner and MRI breast imaging technology. Plans are under way to enhance important clinical services such as neurology, cardiology and urology, and to expand our surgery facilities. Reaching out to our community remains a top priority. We continue to offer health and wellness education programs featuring physician lectures, screenings, nutrition and exercise sessions, support groups, and flu vaccination clinics.
