FROM THE PRESIDENT Better care for you We have some great news to share with you in this issue of Health Essentials. Medina Hospital has made a lot of progress in enhancing patient care these past few months. After undergoing an on-site evaluation and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care, Medina Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for certiﬁcation as a Primary Stroke Center. By achieving certiﬁcation as a Primary Stroke Center, we have proved our ability to provide effective, timely care to stroke victims and can signiﬁcantly improve outcomes for stroke patients. In February, we opened the fourth ﬂoor of the hospital and have dedicated it to the treatment of patients who have undergone orthopaedic and spine procedures. The Center for Orthopaedics and Spine ofﬁcially opened Feb. 22. The newly renovated patient rooms will accommodate up to an additional 27 patients. Finally, I am excited to share with you that our electronic medical records system has recently undergone some enhancements that allow Cleveland Clinic patients to access even more health information and medical records. As a MyChart user you can view portions of your medical record, see test results, renew prescriptions, request appointments, and more. Medina Hospital 1000 E. As our community gears up for the warm weather months, so do we here at Medina Hospital. While we enjoy the change in seasons, we are busy preparing for a change in how we reach out to you. This summer, our Cleveland Clinic community hospitals will introduce a redesigned and more comprehensive Health Essentials publication. Our newly designed Health Essentials magazine will feature health news from Medina Hospital and all of the family health centers located in the southwest region of Cleveland, including Brunswick, Medina, Strongsville and Wooster. We will continue to offer the same valuable information you have come to expect from Health Essentials, but will go further in helping you to know your regional healthcare community.
