Fitness, Head to Toe Getting in shape benefits you everywhere IMAGINE YOU HAVE A GOOD HEALTH CHECKLIST: brain power, creativity, alertness, bone density, posture … and the list goes on and on. Now imagine that one single thing—just one thing— could improve them all. Would you do it? The truth is that one activity can benefit your entire body and is powerful medicine, possibly rivaled only by healthy eating. What is it? Exercise. Being fit will make you feel more energetic and stronger, and it provides subtler benefits as well, says Heath Herrera, M.Ed., CSCS, personal trainer and wellness specialist with CTMC Wellness. Herrera details some of the specific head-to-toe benefits of a regular fitness program. p Lowers the risk of degenerative EYE disease. Increases circulation and delivery of nutrients to SKIN cells. Strong core muscles in the SPINE support the back, pelvis and rib cage, and improve overall stability. Helps preserve BONE mass and may even increase bone density.
