BRIEFS Day One O ers Help Our country’s economic challenges have led some with addiction problems to further abuse alcohol and drugs. CTMC’s Day One program is available to help you or an adult loved one deal with substance abuse disorders as well as cooccurring mental health concerns. The Day One recovery program is a six-week, voluntary intensive outpatient program that focuses on gaining and maintaining abstinence and the life skills associated with a clean and sober lifestyle. Under the direction of Frank Floca, M.D., the program’s multidisciplinary treatment team provides patients with therapeutic intervention in an inviting and caring environment. CTMA O ces Provide Sports Physicals Camp HeartSong Danny Clinch Slated for June 3–5 Camp HeartSong, a two-night, threeday summer camp sponsored by CTMC Hospice Care, is scheduled for June 3, 4 and 5 at John Knox Ranch in Fischer, Texas. Camp HeartSong was created to meet the special needs of children who have experienced the death of a family member or significant person in their lives. The primary goal of the camp is to provide a stress-free and fun experience where kids can “just be kids.” Also, the camp provides a safe and supportive Parents of area school athletes can get a jump on the back-toschool rush thanks to the primary care medical sta of Central Texas Medical Associates (CTMA), which once again o ers sports physicals for the coming school year. Grammy and Country Music Award (CMA)-winning artist Lee Ann Womack is the featured entertainer at the CTMC Foundation’s Annual Stars of Texas Gala on Sunday, Oct. 11. The Texas native began honing her craft as a young girl when her father, a part-time disc jockey, brought her into the studio and let her choose the records he played—Bob Wills, Ray Price and Glen Campbell were among her favorites. Today, Womack balances life as a wife, mother and music star, best known for her crossover hit “I Hope You Dance,” which garnered her three CMAs in 2001. The region’s premier black-tie event is now in San Marcos, thanks to the recent opening of the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center. In addition to the entertainment, this favorite area event features a gourmet meal, as well as silent and live auctions.
