Hospitalists are specially trained in providing inpatient hospital care in today’s modern medical center. Their highest priority is providing excellent care for their patients. “Hospitalists represent one of the most rapidly growing forms of medical practices in the U.S. today,” says Gary Jepson, Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) president and CEO. “Our team of hospitalists allows us to provide our patients with a highly specialized and extremely personalized stay.” “Hospitalists are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” says Lana Cameron, CTMC chief nursing o cer and vice president of patient care services. “Because they are ever-present in the hospital, they are more familiar with sta , consulting doctors and testing procedures.” Additionally, since patients admitted to hospitals generally have more complex health concerns these days, experts say their conditions can change from minute to minute, which warrants frequent monitoring. Because they maintain a 24-hour presence, hospitalists are able to provide more timely diagnoses and treatment. Upon your discharge from the hospital, your hospitalist will communicate with your primary care physician to ensure your receipt of timely and appropriate follow-up care. p ON OUR COVER: Jay Seifert, co-founder of LoneStart Wellness, and Jessica Mease, operations coordinator for CTMC’s Institute for Healthy Living, celebrate the success of recent LoneStart Wellness participant, Dee Taylor, CTMC executive assistant.
