Enjoy. Clockwise, from left: the elegant Brasserie Lipp at the JW Marriott Mexico City; the Day of the Dead celebrations take place in the main square near the presidential palace; the Museo Soumaya; the iconic margarita. © EMILIE BALTZ, REUTERS/CORBIS, DARIO LOPEZ-MILLS/AP/CORBIS start before you head to one of the newest venues, the Museo Soumaya (Blvd. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 303, 56163731), which opened last year in an otherworldly, 150-foot-high piece of architecture covered with 16,000 hexagonal aluminum plates. Funding from Carlos Slim, by many accounts the world’s wealthiest man, helped make this project a reality, and with a collection that includes Rodin, Picasso and Tamayo, Soumaya has garnered positive reviews for more than just its exterior. Round out your contemporary experience with a visit to the Museo de Arte Moderno (Museum of Modern Art) and the Rufino Tamayo Museum, both located in Chapultepec Park. Night on the Town Evenings start late in Mexico City; so take your time getting ready for Zinco Jazz Club (Motolinía 20, Centro, 5512-3369, zincojazz.com), likely the city’s best place for jazz, set in a downtown building that once housed the Banco de México. An eclectic crowd gathers here to savor light “jazz cena” dinners and an extensive cocktail menu. For a faster pace, head to Addé Club (San Jerónimo 240, Jardines de Pedregal, 5550-2615), where pop and dance music fill the floor, or consider an electronica-infused experience at Walther (Oaxaca 89, 5256-5529), a dance club set in an old home in the Roma district, with multiple levels, an open-air patio and an industrial-elegant vibe. — MARK CHESNUT http://www.zincojazz.com
