PINK GIN Plymouth Gin was more than just the gin of choice for the Royal Navy in the 1800s; it was actually dispensed to sailors as part of their rations during long voyages, when clean water was hard to come by and pure gin was a sterile liquid option. Botanical-rich Angostura bitters was created in the 1800s in Trinidad/Tobago, with one of its chief medicinal benefits being a cure for seasickness. The bitters quickly became a mainstay on every royal vessel. Somewhere around 1850 an unknown-but-brilliant person saw fit to combine the two mainstays of British nautical life, and the Pink Gin was born—a simple, elegant cocktail that remains popular around the regions that were formerly part of the British Empire. ________ 1.5 oz.
