Leaving your seat to get snacks tends to be when all of the excitement happens during the game. Enter SMS Snacks, the brainchild of NAU alumni. “I had the idea of texting in my food order and having it delivered to me at my seat,” recalls David Lorenz, ’12 BS, who realized that such a service could guard stadium-goers against missing out on big moments as he had. Lorenz, and fellow classmates Zach Doth, ’12 BS, and Chad DeAlva, ’11 BS, began working on the project as part of an NAU course called BizBlock, which integrates management, marketing and communications. of the Canton Youth Symphony Orchestra. This placement was the unanimous decision of a search committee following a live audition with five competing candidates. Rachel tells us she is also pursuing her doctorate in Orchestral Conducting. While at NAU from 2009 to 2011, she served as assistant conductor and graduate assistant for the NAU Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and Opera, and associate conductor of the NAU Academy Orchestra. Zeb, ’11 BA, and Leesa (Brady), ’10 BS, Henderson (photo middle right) were married in February in Denver, where Leesa is studying to get her doctorate in physical therapy. zeb is a second lieutenant in the Air Force, after going through AFROTC at NAU, and is currently stationed in Mississippi. Many Lumberjacks were in attendance to celebrate and spread some NAU pride!
Kathryn Bruno, ’12 BS, is the new department manager of general merchandise for the NAU Bookstore. “I am working on gaining connections throughout campus and looking for new ways to promote school spirit,” she says. “If you have any ideas or questions about general merchandise such as clothing or gifts, contact me. I am always open to ideas to help improve everyone’s experience at NAU and with the bookstore.”

Samantha Monahan, ’12 BS
A former Lumberjack soccer player, Samantha Monahan, ’12 BS, now plays for Ekenäs Idrottsförening in Finland, a Division II club. “I’ve always had the vision of playing in Europe,” she says. “I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be a great opportunity to get my foot in the door, and my goal is to help the team win. Hopefully, I can get some exposure and some tryouts with teams in higher divisions, and who knows, I could end up staying there for longer than I plan.” Samantha had one goal and two assists through EIF’s first four games.
