editor’s letter 卷首语 Autumn in the City I live in Washington, D.C., and my favorite season here by far is autumn. The summer’s stifling humidity finally relents as the air starts to cool, and people gather throughout the city to enjoy annual festivals and events. Apple picking, farm trips and drives to see the changing leaves are always on my family’s to-do list. On chilly evenings, my husband and I like to sneak over to The Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown for a cozy drink by the fire. As this issue’s fashion feature (“Capital Venture,” page 104) will attest, now is the perfect time to explore the D.C. — with a little style. It’s hard not to think of America’s iconic first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, in our sartorial adventure, from the streets of Georgetown in chic day wear to formal galas in cocktail dresses and evening wear. Toronto is another cosmopolitan destination that makes for a terrific fall getaway. Learn what makes this city of neighborhoods, bookstores and sidewalk cafés so romantic (“Falling in Love With … Toronto,” page 40). Of course, there’s much more to read in The Ritz-Carlton Magazine.
