At Herzliya's northern
rim, the ruins of Apollonia
spread out over a limestone
cliff that rises above the
Mediterranean. The site's
centerpiece, the Crusader
fortress, dates from 1241.
Just south of Herzliya,
the center of Tel Aviv is
a captivating hybrid of
Bauhaus architecture and
Mediterranean atmosphere.
Stroll up and down iconic
Rothschild Boulevard, and
don't miss little Bialik Street,
with eclectic styles from the
1920s. At the end you'll hit
Beit Ha'ir, Tel Aviv's first city
hall and now an exhibition
center with rotating shows
that draw on contemporary
Israeli culture.
