Similar to succulents, which are long-lasting and withstand heat, Air plAnts don't need water to remain fresh during an event. Their whimsical leaves help create enchanting bouquets and centerpieces, and miniature versions work as charming placecard holders. "Featherlike ferns such as ostrich, macho and maidenhair provide an organic element, and their rich green color complements almost any palette," says Isaac Ribas, creative director of event design house Grande Affaires. The young foliage of the ostrich fern, known as fiddlehead because of its shape, makes fanciful boutonnieres. Herbs such as eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender can be variously used, from centerpieces and bouquets to napkin garnishes and favors.
