Couple: Odelia Cheung and Brian Olsen loCation: The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong photographer: Karma Cheng (ooopsproduction.com) When a spark is ignited between two people, not even an ocean between them can extinguish it. As college friends, Odelia Cheung and Brian Olsen always felt a mutual attraction. Fast-forward 20 years: Odelia was living in Hong Kong and Brian in Vancouver, when a mutual friend reconnected them. After a decades-overdue date, they continued their relationship long distance before getting engaged. Choosing a venue for the celebration was easy. "The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong was where I started my career," says Odelia. "I knew everyone would be involved in ensuring that my wedding was exceptional," she says. The property is also the highest hotel in the world. "Brian had actually proposed to me at the highest point in Vancouver, Queen Elizabeth Park, so this made for perfect symmetry," she says. The couple wed amid the clouds on a terrace overlooking the entire cityscape of Hong Kong. A champagne brunch continued inside Ozone, on the 118th floor, where guests from all corners of the globe feted the newlyweds. "It truly reflected us," Odelia says. "Elegant and refined yet relaxed, and, most important, fun and happy!" be featured in a future issue Visit ritzcarlton.com/weddings and learn how you can have your celebration featured in a future issue of Weddings by the ritz-Carlton magazine. Opposite: The fashionable couple stops for a photo on their way to the traditional Chinese dinner held the night of the wedding; Odelia donned a red Carolina Herrera gown and Brian wore his grandfather's vintage tux from the 1960s. Clockwise from top left: Flower girls wear delicate crowns and green dresses. Through a flurry of petals, the newlyweds beam after the ceremony; Odelia complemented her tea-length Christian Dior dress with a luscious bouquet of peonies. A bagpiper sets a festive tone. White hydrangeas in tall vases decorate tables: "We didn't want to overwhelm the decor, so we just added to it with simple, modern arrangements," says Odelia. Cupcakes provide a sweet ending. White blooms set on white linens offset the elaborate décor. http://www.ooopsproduction.com http://www.ritzcarlton.com/weddings
