Wellness coaches help people identify and reach fitness goals Helping You Be Your Best Wellness Can Be aChieved Then a 1-5 scale is used to rate the concerns and indicate each member’s commitment or readiness in making changes. The scale goes from 1) I haven’t even thought of changing this to 5) I have already made the change and want to maintain my progress. Once this is done, wellness coaches help develop plans that include recommended wellness classes, goal setting, creating accountability and three 30-minute follow-up sessions. what we should do to get into shape, to keep our weight down, to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to work to control a chronic condition, but we just can’t seem to start. We use one excuse after another: I’m too busy, I need to be there for my kids, my job is too demanding, blah, blah, blah. So we may walk around the block once in a while, occasionally swim a few laps in the pool or play a round of golf on the weekend and think we’re doing ourselves some good. Every little bit counts, but it won’t put you on a true path to wellness. Wouldn’t you really like to get into great shape and have good lifestyle behaviors? Now you can, with wellness coaching, a complimentary service offered to members of Parrish Health & Fitness Center. Wellness coaching helps members “navigate” into healthier, happier lifestyles. It all starts with developing a plan that leads members into making a commitment and making better choices, which leads to good lifestyle behaviors. During the initial consultations, wellness coaches will discuss members’ issues and concerns that may be hindering their abilities to faithfully follow health and wellness routines. The members list the top three health and wellness concerns they’d like to change and then rate their readiness to do so. We all knoW Parrish Health & Fitness Center offers wellness classes for members as well as the community. Stress management classes are geared toward men and women who are overwhelmed with stress in their lives. We may not be able to eliminate stress from our lives, but we can learn how to manage it. Weight management classes are conducted by a PMC registered dietitian. This educational class provides information on healthy-eating tips and how to manage what and when you eat.
