By Amy Lynn Smith Following a Positive ExamplE Caitlin Jobb’s passion for volunteerism was inspired by her mother, who found time to volunteer while raising three children as a single parent. “She taught us that you can’t always give money, but you can always give your time,” Jobb says. “She pulled all of us kids into it when I was about 16 years old.” Nearly 10 years later, Jobb still volunteers for the same hospital foundation where she started out hanging up coats. She has co-chaired a major fundraiser and did graphic design work for the foundation, which led her to launch her own graphic design business. Most important to Jobb, though, is the satisfaction she receives from volunteering. “I can’t stress enough the happiness and joy that come out of helping someone,” she says. “It gives you a real sense of accomplishment.” She intends to continue volunteering for the rest of her life, because she believes in contributing to the community. “Anyone can volunteer and everyone should, even if it’s just for an hour,” Jobb says, “because organizations can’t do it without volunteers.” Vim & Vigor • SPRI NG 2011 photography by photolibrary 47
