More than 90,000 people are currently waiting for a new kidney. Support for a Difficult Decision organ donation is a difficult choice to make, whether you are choosing to be an organ donor and adding it to your driver’s license or having to make a decision about a family member. “The staff takes organ donation seriously and appreciates playing a part in helping make a tragic situation meaningful for both the donor family and the recipients,” says Chuck Christie, chaplain at Gwinnett Medical Center. GMC likes to honor those who have donated organs by adding the donor’s name to a leaf on the Gift of life tree in the neuroscience unit. The chaplains also hold services in the chapel for the family and staff to grieve and to celebrate the person and his or her gracious gift.
