Growth Expand access to health services NMHS Service Area and Locations Legend: NMHS recruited 14 physicians in nine specialties ranging from anesthesiology to radiology in 2011. Throughout NMHS, patients have access to more than 45 medical and surgical specialties. NMHS expanded the hospitalist program from Tupelo to our community hospitals in Pontotoc and Hamilton, Ala. Hospitalists are internal medicine physicians who limit their practice to the hospital setting. This also marked the initial year for our Physician Leadership Institute. Physicians apply for the program and undergo six weeks of intense training designed to help them gain additional skills in the areas of leadership, finance, strategic planning, operations and other aspects of health care. The program was so well received by the physicians that it is being expanded and repeated on an annual basis. This year marked the addition of our second Clinic at Walmart. We opened one in Columbus in 2010, followed by an Oxford location in 2011. Work Link added two work site clinics, Hunter-Douglas in Verona and Plymouth Tube in Eupora, for a total of five. Other notable events throughout NMHS include opening the new Sleep Lab at NMMC-Eupora, construction of the new Saltillo Medical Clinic, and continued progress on the West Bedtower at NMMC-Tupelo.
