1 When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a football player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 3 My favorite television show is Modern Family. I love the various quirky characters. Mad Men would be a close second. 6 If I could be any figure in history, I would be a traveler with Lewis and Clark. I think it would have been incredible to be among the first non-native Americans to see the American West. What an incredible journey! 8 My first car was my father’s 1973 MGB convertible, which he drove on weekends. I was in high school at the time and quickly made it my own. I now own a 1956 Thunderbird that my dad completely restored. I still remember when he and I brought it home in pieces in the late ’80s. K. Carlton Buchanan Jr., MD 2 My first job was working in the warehouse at the family insulation business when I was 13 years old. Working in an un-air-conditioned warehouse during the summer in Florida definitely inspires you to go to college. 5 Right now I am reading How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character by Paul Tough. It explores why some people succeed and others don’t. I highly recommend it. 9 My favorite part about fall is college football, deer hunting season, and our family going to the mountains to see the changing leaves. In his own words 4 If I weren’t a doctor, I would be in business. My wife and I own a timber farm and an agricultural tool manufacturing company. 7 One thing people may not know about me is I really enjoy hunting and fishing. I like to trout fish in the Chattahoochee and hunt deer and wild hogs on our timber property. I am probably one of the only doctors who has been seen driving their truck into the doctors parking lot with a four-wheeler in the back. 10 My dream vacation is backcountry fishing in Alaska. Flying to different lakes and streams every day and fishing next to grizzly bears. FAL L 2013 55
