Sheila Warren, Women’s health navigator Each stage of a woman’s life brings different challenges and questions. It is important for women to not only take care of their families, but also take care of themselves. “I am here to help women and their families with the ins and outs of the world of healthcare,” Warren says. “Perhaps they need someone to explain in detail what their doctor prescribed, or maybe they need guidance in finding a specialist or making an appointment. Regardless of the question or concern, my patients know that they can come to me with their questions and concerns, and that they can trust me.” As GMC’s women’s health navigator, Warren is a registered nurse who is trained to address patients’ questions about birth control, fertility, lactation, menopause and more. She is a resource to discuss healthcare needs and options. Warren meets with patients during a free consultation to determine their specific needs. She has the knowledge and experience to help patients and their families with particular concerns, from adolescence to menopause. As more people are being asked to be their own health advocates, Warren equips patients with the necessary tools to make educated choices about their care. > Fal l 2013 7
