What's to like things to think about There are a few downsides to consider. Procedures can sometimes take longer because of the skill required, so a patient may be under anesthesia longer. Robotic surgical equipment is pricey, and compared with laparoscopy, such operations typically cost the hospital more per patient and require more operating time. What's neW in a hot field The Cutting Edge More surgeries are performed annually at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo than anywhere else in Mississippi. Surgeons perform more than 14,000 cases a year at the main facility; about 2,200 cases at Women's Hospital; and around 7,000 procedures at the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
