CMH NEWS CMH Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer Citizens Memorial Hospital announces the addition of Michael C. Misko, M.D., as the chief medical officer. Misko will work in collaboration with CMH leadership, medical staff physicians and providers, and staff across the organization to continually improve and enhance the quality of healthcare services. He will oversee and provide guidance to CMH’s medical staff services and hospital departments, including cardiology services, diagnostic Michael C. Misko is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, has earned fellowship status in the Association of Emergency Physicians and is a board-certified physician executive through the Certifying Commission in Medical Management. CMH Named Healthcare Organization of the Month Citizens Memorial Hospital was recognized as Health Care Organization of the Month for Feb. 2013 by Studer Group, one of the Debbie McQuay, director of quality nation’s most respected healthcare improvement, and Donald J. Babb, chief executive officer and executive director, consultancies, for the hospital’s accomplishments and improvements accept the Studer Group Award. in patient experience. Babb and CMH Honored The results are in for Springfield Business Journal’s 2013 Dynamic Dozen. Citizens Memorial Hospital/Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation was chosen for the fourth consecutive year to be among the 12 fastest-growing companies in the Ozarks. Companies were chosen through a numbersbased formula that awards points for both revenue and growth in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Also honored was Donald J. Babb, chief executive officer and executive director of CMH as one of Springfield Business Journal’s local executive honorees for 2013. CMH and Babb were honored at a reception and awards ceremony in Springfield, Mo., on May 16. Tremain Family Hospitality House Opens SUMMER 2013 | 3 The Tremain Family Hospitality House, located across the street from the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at Citizens Memorial Hospital, opened on June 2. The Hospitality House is an expanded service for oncology patients receiving treatment and care at the Cancer Center. The facility features six guest rooms and a kitchen, TV lounge, hearth room, dining room, covered porch and staff office as well as laundry facilities and computer access. Each guest room has a handicapped-accessible bathroom and a refreshment station. Staffed by trained CMH volunteers, the Hospitality House provides a place for patients and their family members to stay at a minimal cost. The lead donation for the project was given by Juanita Tremain through the Tremain Family Trust.
