week of sports camp. Or have
them watch live or televised
high school, college or professional sports.
FOR YOU: Try volunteering. If
you coach your child's soccer
team you'll master the rules in
no time, even if you've never
played before.
MIX IT UP
FOR THE KIDS: As
children get older, encourage
them to participate in a variety
of sports. If they specialize
in one sport, limit them to
nine months a year to reduce
the risk of injury, overtraining
or burnout.
FOR YOU: Trying different sports
or exercise routines is great for
people of any age. "My healthiest
adult athletes are triathletes,"
Simanis says. Cycling, running
or swimming on different days
helps reduce injuries.
