Kehr, MD, the company’s CEO. “We’re taking the same backend platform that we’re using with the Med-eMonitor and beginning to extend it to other appliances.” Like the telephone. Software algorithms in the InforMedix’ Med-eXpert System analyzes data provided by the patient in the phone call, Kehr said. Information can be sent back to the patient up to three times a day by phone call, e-mail or text message, and reports are generated and made accessible on a secure Web site, which can be viewed by the patient, relatives and/or healthcare providers. Relatives, caretakers and healthcare providers are alerted if medications are missed or the patient’s health declines “It’s a more cost-effective way of getting the right information to the right stakeholders,” Kehr said. To that end, InforMedix recently established a relationship with the Consumer Health Information Corp., a patient education agency that develops and implements customized patient adherence strategies. The two companies will work with pharmaceutical companies in the future to tailor programs around new drug launches, medication adherence programs, brand extension campaigns, clinical trials and prescription drug awareness issues. “We know how to develop programs that patients will understand and we know how to motivate patients to stay in therapy,” said Dorothy L. Smith, CHIC’s founder and president. “What we can’t do – and neither can health professionals – is work with patients on a daily basis to remind them when to take each dose or help patients stay in better touch with their doctors and caregivers.” T hat ’s where InforMedix comes in. “We can deliver a very comprehensive healthcare management plan,” said Kehr. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: MeDePHoNe 0108 One destination.
