Through the partnership, Canopy’s HealthDirect HSA technology platform has been integrated into Wolters Kluwer Financial Services’ new HSA Director, an HSA management system that provides financial institutions and their commercial and retail clients HSA enrollment and management capabilities. HSA Director will be marketed to financial institutions nationally, and the product will make the healthcare banking platform, which services and supports the HSA programs of several Fortune 500 financial institutions and healthcare companies, available to all banks and credit unions for the first time. “As the HSA market continues to accelerate, financial institutions are increasingly offering these types of accounts to the employer and consumer clients they service,” said Luis Doffo, senior vice president of Canopy Financial. Canopy Financial provides technology software that connects healthcare and financial services. Wolters Kluwer, headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a global information services and publishing company. The number of physicians using MO HealthNet’s electronic health record system to access health information at the point of care for their Medicaid patients has grown to 7,200. “There’s a lot of adoption,” he said. Better healthcare information translates to reduced duplicative tests, decreased provider time on call centers and a decrease in total operations. MO HealthNet has a long list of technology initiatives in various stages, Oestrich said. Near-term projects include developing a Web portal for participants to access their own healthcare information and to push specific information to them. An alert system will be integrated to their personal health George Oestrich, MD records. “We want to empower patients to be a part of the program and progress,” Oestrich said. Missouri received a two-year Medicaid Transformation Grant last year for $1,940,175. By developing an integrated Web-based instrument, the state will be able to manage its Home and Community Based Services program, which will interface with its Medicaid claims history file. The grant requires states to build in sustainability as part of its infrastructure change in IT. Medicaid Transformation Grants have fostered a transformational change in how CMS relates with the states, said Richard Friedman, director of the division of state system for the Center for Medicaid and State Operations/Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. “We are moving together to focus on healthcare outcomes,” he said. Other states, such as Arizona, West Virginia, Minnesota and Rhode Island, are also developing innovative models, Friedman said. “Missouri is where it is because of the leadership of people like Oestrich,” he added. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: HealtHNet 0208 Patient Access Management • Claim Management • Remittance & Payment Distribution • Patient Billing & Payment e ● Connect: eMdeoN 0208 ● http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=8635 http://www.emdeon.com http://www.emdeon.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=8630 http://www.healthcareitnews.com/eConnect.cms?id=8712
