Clinical applications were also identified as a priority of the future, as implementing an EMR, replacing/upgrading/implementing clinical information systems and delivery of clinical knowledge to users were identified as the most important IT priorities at respondents' organizations over the next two years. Each of these items was selected by approximately one-quarter of respondents. Hand-in-hand with an emphasis on implementing clinical systems is a focus on data security. Despite the fact most respondents indicated their organization uses multiple security technologies to protect data at this time, approximately one-quarter suggested they had a security breach at their organization in the past year. Additionally, respondents reported identity management and security technologies are two of the top three technologies they believed would be implemented in their organization over the course of the next two years.
