Exhibition Central & North Florida Wins Chapter Reviewer Promotion H IMSS held a contest to see which local Chapter, based on its size, could become the most involved with the 2008 Annual HIMSS Conference educational review process. The competition was close, but the recipient of this year's Chapter Reviewer Promotion is the Central & North Florida Chapter (CFHIMSS). The HIMSS08 Exhibition, with 942 exhibitors, including 252 first-time exhibitors, highlighted today's innovative systems and services, emerging technologies and new and revamped products through interactive demonstrations. With more than 407,200 net square feet of exhibits, the exhibition featured tools and solutions for EHRs/EMRs, medication management systems, ambulatory care, clinical data sharing, e-prescribing and more. The "New Solutions at HIMSS08" Theatre offered 45-minute sessions on new healthcare IT products or solutions, while Product Pavilions featured the IT solutions healthcare executives are looking for to implement EHR systems, manage the business of healthcare and improve communication with wireless and mobile technologies. At the exhibition's “must see” Interoperability Showcase, the benefits of managing personal healthcare were demonstrated with applications from more than 50 vendors. Bringing together the best and brightest in HIT, the showcase demonstrated how HIMSS is fostering and promoting interoperability to improve patient care. Through this customized exhibit offering the “look and feel” of a physician's office, HIMSS08 attendees gained an understanding of why interoperability is critical by tracking their personal EHRs through a physician's office to a hospital within a cardiac care scenario. What's Next HIMSS looks forward to its next annual conference and exhibition, April 4-8, 2009, in Chicago. HIMSS anticipates an even larger exhibit hall, based on initial exhibit hall space sales for HIMSS09, and an outstanding array of keynote addresses, educational sessions and networking events.
