Serving a 12-county area in northeast South Carolina, McLeod Health plans to implement the EmergisoftED product from the FLORENCE, SC Dallas-based Emergisoft Corp. The company specializes in software for emergency departments and urgent care centers. The project will begin with an EDIS installation at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C., McLeod’s flagship facility, which supports more than 60,000 emergency department visits per year. A subsequent phase will include the emergency department of McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, S.C. Emergisoft will interface its EDIS with Siemens Invision to enable the transfer of real-time patient information and clinical data. The system will also interface with the Sunquest lab system to provide real-time lab results status and alerting. The Emergisoft EDIS software is a Web browser-based product that automates the patient management and documentation process in the ED. McLeod Health officials said they expect the new technology will empower the ED at each hospital to streamline processes and boost patient safety.
