Healthcare IT News - April 2008 - (Page 26) 26 Healthcare IT News s April 2008 www.HealthcareITNews.com Feinberg promotes collaboration, student participation in Chapter Dan-Ari Feinberg, the recipient of FEBRUARY SPIRIT OF HIMSS AWARD the February Spirit of HIMSS Award, has been a member of the New England Chapter of HIMSS (NEHIMSS) board of directors for the past three years and currently serves as chair of NEHIMSS' Membership Committee. Mr. Feinberg graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in politics, in the middle of his second successful technology startup. After six years, he sold his business to move into the healthcare industry. “I wanted to make a real difference in people's lives, and I saw the rapidly evolving technology in healthcare. It seemed the perfect place for me,” he said. In 2006, Mr. Feinberg earned an MBA in healthcare from Boston University, where he became the student liaison to NEHIMSS' Board. In this role, he linked the Chapter with several local universities to generate student participation in HIMSS. Since graduating, he has applied his technical experience and new healthcare skills to build RetinaCheck, a company that uses telemedicine to test for diabetic retinopathy in the primary-care environment. Over the past several months, Mr. Feinberg has led the management of a new series of events for NEHIMSS: “After Hours Social and Networking.” On the day of the monthly Chapter Board meeting, following the business agenda, Mr. Feinberg hosts a complimentary networking event at a local restaurant, rotating the meetings throughout central New England. Each month, a pertinent healthcare IT topic is selected; topics have included nursing informatics and EHR optimization.
