Karen Conway and Richard Perrin, Ms. Conway and Mr. Perrin collaborated on the Supply Chain Technology Symposium for Healthcare Professionals, held during HlMSS08 in Orlando. They worked with HIMSS staff members Gail Rice, manager, education, and JoAnn Klinedinst, senior director, healthcare joint recipients of the March "Spirit of HIMSS" Award and cochairs of the Supply Chain Management Special Interest Group (SIG), have 'worked tirelessly to ensure that the topic of supply chain management across the it sold out. Through their efforts, HIMSS secured an international slate of speakers vcry knowledgeable and experienced in their areas of expertise. Further, Ms. Conway and Mr. Perrin worked with the Association for Healthc.'lre Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), a HI!\1SS- 08 co-sponsor, to ensure that collaboration existed between the two organizations. A HIMSS member since 2004, Ms. Conway is employed as director of communications for GHX. Mr. Perrin, the president of Advantechlnc., has been a HIMSS member since 1994. As a result of volunteer efforts such as those by Ms. Conway and Mr. Perrin, a critical topic like supply chain management is brought to the forefront and discussed. Without the right supplies and the right materials being in the right place, at the ribmt time, patient care, safety and customer satisfaction may be compromised.
