The Louisville, Ky.-based provider of healthcare services for employers, government agencies and third-party administrators had been spending a lot of time and effort putting together an integrated portfolio of clinical, LOUISVILLE, KY – financial and administrative solutions to manage health plans. Now, coupled with a new Web site, officials are ready to introduce their “person-centric” suite of services to the healthcare market. “You’ve got so many sources of data, to put it all together under one format is a challenge,” said SHPS President and CEO Rishabh Mehrotra, who oversees the SHPS’ Carewise and Landacorp product lines. “This … is a leap above where the industry is.” Among SHPS’ competitors are Healthways, Matria Healthcare and Hewitt Associates. With the launch of Carewise Navigator in 2006 and subsequent rollouts of a health portal and wellness platform, SHPS sought to not only link spending accounts and benefit administration services, but to provide a “360-degree view of the person.” The integrated platform, Mehrotra said, enables businesses to generate individualized care plans and drive care management programs. “Everything we do at SHPS is centered in improving individual health, one person at a time,” said Chris Ryan, the company’s chief strategy and marketing officer. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: carewISe 0508 ● ConneCting CliniCians, patients and faCilities. tHat’s sage 360º. CLINICAL MANAGEMENT ANALYTICAL REPORTING ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT EDI TRANSACTION MANAGEMENT Calif., TriZetto provides payerfocused software and services to improve the coordination of benefits and care in healthcare settings. The company’s principal clients are national and regional health insurance plans and benefits administrators that provide transaction services to self-insured employer groups. Both TriZetto and Apax officials have maintained that TriZetto’s direction won’t change after the deal is completed. TriZetto officials have said going private would allow them to focus on long-term goals rather than short-term profits. “The achievement of TriZetto’s integrated healthcare management vision is a multi-year journey that will require both conventional and non-conventional business investment within an integrated framework,” said Jeff Margolis, TriZetto’s chairman and CEO. Investors say TriZetto’s standing may be improved by the company’s recent efforts to move from onetime payments to subscriptions. Shares of the company’s stock jumped almost 20 percent following news of the deal. “We see the confluence of healthcare and information technology as a key area of focus for strategic investments,” said Buddy Gumina, a partner and head of U.S. healthcare at Apax Partners. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: PrIVate 0508 ● MoNITors Continued from page 30 When you think about interoperability between practices, patients and facilities, you should think Sage Software. Given this demand, device manufacturers like Honeywell, GE and Abbott have added wireless communication, data processing and Web interfacing features. These features enable the systems to gather, sort and drop data into a patient’s electronic medical record for future review. Kalorama says the most useful patient monitoring systems are “intelligent” ones that can read the data based on pre-programmed algorithms for a patient’s specific condition and automatically report to a healthcare worker or physician when measurements are abnormal. “Data is important, but if your system only gathers data, you are just increasing the burden on the workers who have to then interpret that data,” said Melissa Elder, an analyst for Kalorama Information. “The smart PM systems know that when a pre-defined number is hit, it’s time to call the doctor.” Elder said some systems can even take patient care a step further, incorporating built-in video and audio interfaces so that the patient and physician can speak. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: MoNItorS 0508 e ● Connect: SaGe 0508 ● http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=9199 http://HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=9187 http://www.sagehealth.com/HITN http://www.sagehealth.com/HITN http://HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=9194 http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=9212
