The new hub marks the next stage in HIMSS' growing commitment to Europe and builds on the successful relationships the Society has built in the two years it has had a presence in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The initiative will be accompanied by the recruitment of additional European staff to drive an expanded program of initiatives aimed at promoting the best use of eHealth in Europe, as well as to give support to members and partners at the local and national level. “As the pan-European eHealth market develops, HIMSS Europe is tailoring its outreach to the unique needs of each region. Our objective is to promote the deployment of eHealth technologies that improve results for patients and reduce growing healthcare costs throughout Europe and to do this, we need a distinctly European presence,” commented Michael Strübin, HIMSS Europe executive director. As well as strong centralized support to the major stakeholders in the eHealth community, HIMSS' European headquarters will also coordinate efforts at the regional and local level, such as the cooperation with the Catalan TicSalut Foundation to develop educational programs to drive the roll out of eHealth initiatives. “The launch of our new European HQ marks the next step in our strategy to become a global-, stakeholder-driven facilitator of the eHealth revolution,” commented Jeremy Bonfini, senior vice president of global services at HIMSS.
