Medical and surgical units throughout the hospital integrated 800 of each of the following solutions: infection control key- boards & mice, barcode scanners, wall mounted articulating arms, and custom CPU holders, and 50 medication carts for the adult Intensive Care Units. Troy, Mich-based EnovateIT customized all the hardware for the barcode medication administration within the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record. “EnovateIT’s workstations now “EnovateIt’s workstations now play a major role in Wake Forest’s overall It project.” – Robin Hack, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center play a major role in Wake Forest’s overall IT project,” said Robin Hack, Wake Forest’s Interim Director/Manager of Nursing Clinical Systems. “Our care givers desired a workflow solution to help them achieve greater efficiency in their medication administration activities.” Kim Benson, NCS Specialist reported that, “during the trial period the nurses overwhelmingly preferred the in-room solution.” The articulating arms attached to the wall mounted workstations allow the staff to use the EMR at the patient’s bedside. “The medication cart solution for the ICU is a great fit for the workflow and space constraints in that practice setting,” said Hack. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e l Connect: UPGraDe 0907 BarNaBas Continued from page 17 Spacious. Shuman said St. Barnabas’ patients usually don’t develop a relationship with a single healthcare provider, making it especially critical that their health record – including a full medical history – is available at whatever clinic the patient visits. “The Eclipsys implementation team worked hard to make sure the solution met the unique needs of our ambulatory care environment, while also making sure we met our deadlines and came in on budget,” said Richard Young, assistant vice president of IS at St. Barnabas Hospital. Jay Deady The Eclipsys team had never Options: • Fan thermostat • Vent caps and fans • Cord eyelets • Recessed keyboard door “If an acute care application is already deployed, a lot of infrastructure is already in place.” – Jay Deady, Eclipsys before deployed technology in a setting that did not already have it running in the acute care facility, said Jay Deady, Eclipsys’ executive vice president of customer solutions. Usually, the ambulatory piece is an add-on model, he said. “If an acute care application is already deployed, a lot of infrastructure is already in place,” Deady said. However, the vendor team went to St. Barnabas prepared with a methodology for implementation. The team worked with Shuman and other clinicians on the details to “hit the mark.” Deady credits the commitment of the St. Barnabas clinicians and executives for the success of the project. There was excellent collaboration between the St. Barnabas team and the Eclipsys team, he said. St. Barnabas dedicated the right resources to the project and picked the best people to see it through. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: BarNaBaS 0907 For more information about Carstens full line of space-saving WALLaroos, * visit www.carstensEMR.com, or call 1.800.621.5051. * Meet ADA requirements. © Copyright 2007 Carstens l e l Connect: CarSteNS 0907 Your Partner in the Evolution of Charting http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=7676 http://www.carstensEMR.com http://www.carstensEMR.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=7672 http://www.healthcareitnews.com/eConnect.cms?id=7717
