BCBSAZ licensed the online tool from Health Data Management Solutions (HDMS) and branded it for its members. The tool provides access to HDMS’ large volume of healthcare metrics, including utilization and price metrics, risk adjustment metrics, catastrophic claims analysis and trend analysis, said Adnan Vora, vice president of HDMS. The SAS Business Intelligence Suite helps aggregate healthcare data from a granular to a high level and the Futrix reporting technology provides the ad-hoc, Web-based report generation capabilities, she said. The data is aggregated to protect employees’ health information. “We are working with employer groups and brokers to help them understand where their current needs and Cindy future opportuni- Montgomery ties are,” said Cindy Montgomery, director of business informatics for BCBSAZ. The tool can help human resources directors track benefit changes and their impact on utilization, create models to determine the impact of future changes and gain insight into how effective wellness programs are and identify gaps in the programs, she said. CFOs of self-insured groups can use the tool for financial analysis to identify patterns in high cost and utilization data. - DenteMax, an independent wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, has signed a 10-year dental contract with Healthation, a benefits management and healthcare claims management technology company. DenteMax will implement the AcceleHealth enterprise payer solution for comprehensive ben- efits, claims administration and the AboveHealth self-service portal to deliver communication and adjudication capabilities to the DenteMax user community. Healthation will deliver its rules engine, metadata-oriented database, enterprise workflow, Web Services architecture, integrated portal and implementation services under a Software- as-a-Solution model to allow DenteMax to unite its community of providers and consumers under one single solution. With the AboveHealth portal, DenteMax hopes to enhance its business relationships, extend its branding and have a total stakeholder-centric solution. DenteMax provides third-party dental administrator services and oversees dental coverage for more than 1.3 million members for BCBSM’s dental products. DenteMax also manages the nation’s largest leasable dental PPO network, accessed by nearly 200 insurance companies and third-party administrators throughout the country.
