The recently announced FirstGateways contract with NYCLIX, the New York City-based Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO), has been acquired by MedPlus as part of the sale. FCG will continue to provide consulting, integration and hosting services for NYCLIX and other customers using the FirstGateways solution. RemedyMD announced last month it would add the Intelligent Dosing System, developed by Dimensional Dosing Systems, Inc. of Wexford, Pa. to its suite of Web-based applications. The new feature will initially be used by endocrinologists who use RemedyMD’s EndoEHR, an endocrine-specific electronic health record, and diabetic patients who track their blood glucose levels and insulin intake using the company’s myHealthManager patient portal. “This is just another feature that allows the patient to determine the best practice,” said Emily Bonham, RemedyMD’s senior director of product management. “This works perfectly for a patient working with different types of dosages who has to make a decision. It’s better than a ‘best guess’ approach.” Bonham said approximately Dimensional Dosing Systems, Inc.’s Intelligent Dosing System helps diabetics and their physicians monitor and measure daily insulin needs. The service has been added to RemedyMD’s Webbased solutions. 20,000 customers make use of EndoEHR, while more than 100,000 people make use of RemedyMD’s patient portals. The hospital will deploy the LodgeNetRX television system, which provides healthcare information and patient education modules, as well as an entertainment package that includes movies and games tailored specifically to children. Three months after launching Health Evolution Partners, a private equity firm focused on healthcare investments, David Brailer, MD, and his partners are ready to spend some money – and make some. Brailer detailed their investment strategy last month at the 20th annual Bear Stearns healthcare conference.
