Allen Woolf, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of CIGNA Group Insurance. Kerry Weems has been named by President Bush as deputy chief of staff for HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt, as acting CMS administrator. Weems will immediately assume the responsibilities of the position, which has remained vacant since acting agency administrator Leslie Norwalk stepped down in July. Brian Bremer, Jerry K. Myers and Robert B. Rothermel have been appointed to Pharmacy OneSource, Inc.’s board of directors, expanding the board from seven directors to 10. Pete Martinez, a former IBM executive, has joined the Quantum Group as chief technology and innovations officer. Ray Moss has been appointed vice president and chief information officer of Valley Presbyterian Hospital, effective September 10. Bonnie J. Coffey has been named president of the Association of Health Information Outsourcing Services. Scott Burkey has joined Boston Software Systems as a member of the business development team. Thomas Kelly Mann has been named chief executive officer for Mediware Information Systems, Inc. He replaces James Burgess who revealed his resignation on July 2, 2007. John D. Quinlivan, now chief executive officer of the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla., has been named the new CEO at the Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Georgia. He replaces Tom Gilbert, who left in mid-July. Alabama-based DocuSys has named Robert E. Watson president and chief executive officer and Joseph E. Heins executive vice president and chief operating officer, while former president and CEO Robert Hanson will become vice chairman of the company’s board. Matthew J. Perry has been named president and CEO of the Genesis HealthCare System. He replaces Tom Sieber. James G. Coller has been named chief executive officer of both St. Vincent Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis. He had been the chief executive officer at St. Mary’s. Brian C. Smith has been named executive vice president of business development for HealthCare.com. David Zieve, MD, has been appointed medical director of A.D.A.M., Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of health information services and benefits management solutions. Kenneth Strople has been named president and chief executive officer of Downey Regional Medical Center in Downey, Calif. He has served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer since April 2006 and had been named interim president and CEO last June. Rand Ballard, chief operating officer of MedAssets, Inc., has been elected chairman of the Meals on Wheels Association of America Foundation Board. The Tenet Healthcare Corporation has announced that Marsha D. Powers has been named a senior vice president, leading the company’s Florida region. Until recently, she had served as a division president of Triad Hospitals, Inc. Lance Hill has been named the CEO of Cleveland-based Within3, a new company that has created an online platform for physicians, researchers and medical organizations. Mediware Information Systems of Lenexa, Kan. has appointed Richard Greco Jr. to its board of directors and announced that long-term director Jonathan Churchill has resigned. Greco, a former Assistant Secretary of the Navy, is president of Filangieri Capital Partners in New York City.
