Martin Harris, MD, MBA, FHIMSS, has been named to the 15-member board of the American Health Information Community (AHIC) Successor, the replacement organization to the federally chartered healthcare information technology advisory panel. Dr. Harris is the chief information officer and chairman of the information technology division of Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Additionally, he serves as executive director of eCleveland Clinic, a series of e-health clinical C. CHAN's EHR system has been a vital tool in improving patient care and outcomes for its large patient population. With implementation complete, CHAN has focused on wraparound tools that enhance the capabilities of its EHR. The Davies Awards of Excellence Program is based on an evaluation framework that involves a two-step process, an introspective self-assessment and an on location site visit. Modeled after the Baldrige Award, this process is a valuable tool for planning and feedback of an EHR implementation. Award recipients often leverage their Award status for additional funding and career growth. Starting next month, the HIMSS Insider will be profiling all the 2008 Davies Award recipients.
