Underwood, MBA, FHIMSS, is director of government and industry affairs at Siemens Medical Solutions in Malvern, Pa. Underwood, who joined HIMSS in 1999, participates in HIMSS' Advocacy Days and Public Policy Forums. She is the past chair of the HIMSS EHRVA and the co-chair of the HIMSS Global Vendors Coalition. She also served as the program chair of the Nicholas E. Davies Award Committee with CPRI-HOST, before the program was integrated with HIMSS. In her role on the board, Underwood will work to further HIMSS' leadership on the world stage in driving IT-based healthcare transformation, with the political atmosphere charged with advancing HIT adoption to increase access to care, improve quality of care, and reduce care costs. Members Vote to Revise HIMSS Bylaws Along with the Board and Nominating Committee elections, members voted on revisions to HIMSS’ bylaws. Amendments to the Society’s bylaws require membership approval. Members passed all the bylaws’ amendments up for a vote; these included changes pertaining to the size of the Board of Directors; the length of board members’ terms and officers’ terms; processes for filling vacancies in officer positions; requirements for running for officer positions; and external tabulation of director and officer elections. ■ Spacious.
