Willa Fields, RN, DNSc, FHIMSS; Reid Scott Holbrook, FHIMSS; Jenifer Jarriel, BS, MBA; and Miriam J. Paramore, FHIMSS, will serve three-year terms beginning in July 2009. Willa Fields, RN, DNSc, FHIMSS, is an associate professor at San Diego State University in California. Previously, Dr. Fields held several positions at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego, including vice president of patient care information systems and systemwide director of quality measurement. A HIMSS Member since 2003, Dr. Fields has served as chair of HIMSS' Annual Conference Education Committee and a member of HIMSS' Nursing Informatics Committee; she is also a past member of the committees for HIMSS' Nursing Informatics Symposium and Quality Improvement Symposium. In her role on the board, she hopes to increase clinician acceptance and adoption of health IT, especially clinical decision support systems, through improved usability and collaboration among vendors, clinicians and provider organizations. Reid Scott Holbrook, FHIMSS, is executive vice president of customer service at Medicity in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Holbrook, a HIMSS Member since 2005, is a former member of the HIMSS Organizational Service Board and HIMSS Analytics Board; he also previously served on HIMSS' Enterprise Information Systems Committee. As a HIMSS Board member, Mr. Holbrook hopes to educate healthcare executives on the value of health IT and its role in their organization. In addition, with HIMSS having both national and international influence, he will continue to encourage HIMSS expansion in North America and outside to the global marketplace. Jenifer Jarriel, MBA, is vice president and chief information officer at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Ms. Jarriel, who joined HIMSS in 2002, has chaired the Society's Ambulatory Education/Virtual Conference Task Force and Ambulatory Information Systems Steering Committee. She has served as a HIMSS Annual Conference reviewer and a member of the Practice Leadership Task Force. While serving on the HIMSS Board, Ms. Jarriel will identify options for building IT collaboration among inpatient, outpatient and alternative health environments through education, resources, networking and vendor participation. She will build effective communications with HIMSS Chapters to FHIMSS, is senior vice president of corporate strategy and public relations at Emdeon Business Miriam J. Paramore Services in Nashville, Tenn. A HIMSS Member since 1995, Ms. Paramore has served as a HIMSS Advisory Board Member, via the merger between HIMSS and AFEHCT. She chairs the HIMSS Financial Systems Steering Committee and moderated the Business Systems Roundtable at HIMSS07. Ms. Paramore believes two of the most important levers in Paramore, increase volunteerism and input on initiatives at national HIMSS. Starting Jan. 1, 2009, HIMSS opens its annual call for volunteers willing to serve on a committee for the 2009-10 fiscal year. An electronic application, available at www.himss.org/committees, will be open from Jan. 1, 2009 through March 1, 2009. Committee participation is open to all individuals and corporate HIMSS Members who are not serving in other leadership positions within the Society and have been a member for at least the past 12 consecutive months.
