Phase 1 of this agreement between the two companies will use PASHealth digital pen technology and robust form capture to interface nursing and patient notes with Americare’s internal system. D-PAS digital pens will be deployed along with the design and implementation of more than 15 custom nursing information forms. Nurses and home aides will be able to process paperwork in their usual work flow, while being able to digitally transfer the information back to the Americare main office using Patient Access Solutions’ D-PAS program. “We look forward to integrating the D-PAS technology with Americare’s proprietary software system to help improve the efficiency and reporting needs of the home care industry and payer communities,” said Bruce Weitzberg, CEO and president of Patient Access Solutions. “The advantages of streamlining the paper process while improving productivity in the home care industry are obvious, and we are pleased with this agreement.” ● choices. Rosenberg noted that most of ActiveHealth Management’s clients believe and understand that using the CareEngine System, which compares aggregated claims data against evidence-based medical guidelines, not only improves healthcare quality but saves money that would have gone towards such things as duplicative tests. ActiveHealth Management is a subsidiary of Aetna, whose members receive clinical alerts, or Care Considerations. “Sending Care Considerations to both physicians and members can help them work together to discuss and increases the likelihood that they will take action on important health matters,” said Sharon Brodeur, head of Aetna’s Program Design and Sales Support, National Care Management. “Patients are more likely to receive the proper care, and prevent the healthcare issue from worsening and needing more intense medical intervention in the future,” she said. “While the Care Consideration may have been a simple reminder for a lab test, it could also have been life-saving.” Lynne Dunbrack, program manager at Health Industry Insights, said the ability for personal health records to accept and present alerts to consumers presents another value proposition. “This is a pretty powerful use of technology,” she said. While the study’s results may spur vendors to extend their messaging capability, Dunbrack said it would require algorithms to identify clinical care gaps and deliver them to PHRs and connections to payer or provider data sets to enable data comparison – no small feat. ■ More at HealthcareITNews.com e Connect: alertS 1208 ● http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=10502 http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=10490 http://jobspot.healthcareitnews.com http://jobspot.healthcareitnews.com http://www.HealthcareITNews.com http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=10496
